Feline Essence

For my final project in the darkroom photography course, I found inspiration in Fukase’s "Sasuke!! Dear Cat" (1979), which captures the daily life of the photographer and his cat. As a cat owner myself, I was drawn to the way unique moments and poses can be immortalized in compelling photography. A series of 12 photos, six for each of my two cats, aiming to capture their essence. Fukase's photograph of his cat’s exposed fangs stood out to me, as I want to similarly highlight key features like claws. My goal is to encapsulate the true nature of cats.
